Nature Monsters are Fun and Simple Toddler Crafts

I enjoy looking at all the different stats on my fitness watch, but the funniest one is the cadence. On a walk or run, it will be going steady and then drop all the way off to zero. Is my watch broke? Nope, that is just me stopping because my daughter spots a leaf or twig or giant stick from her stroller that she really needs. By the time we get home, we normally have quite the collection of nature. So, when I wanted a really quick and easy craft to do with my 2 1/2 year old, I knew she would love making nature monsters.

You can’t make a simpler craft than these nature monsters. Plus googly eyes make everything cuter and instantly entertain a toddler. Check out these mummy and octopus crafts that also use googly eyes. Also, if you enjoy doing something simple, but fun with your kid try wrapping a present with them.

How to Make Nature Monsters

Materials:

Prep:

To start, take your child and go on a nature hunt. My daughter and I just went around our yard to find leaves, sticks, rocks, and flowers. You could also go on a walk, to a park, or anywhere your kid can pick up things to use. Here is a fun printable you can use for nature hunts, but for this you probably want to skip the bug.

Creating:

Next, glue on googly eyes. It’s as simple as that. I gave my daughter a bottle of white glue and a bunch of googly eyes. Then, I stepped back and let her do her thing. It was right before naptime so she was in a bit of a mood. She made several nature monsters herself before telling me where she wanted me to put the googly eyes. Between the two of us we made several super cute nature monsters.

I told you these were easy! Yet they are still a fun activity that keeps your little one entertained. Did your kid enjoy collecting or gluing more?
