When we started making alphabet letters crafts, I bought watercolors (on sale) to use for our W craft. It took way longer than I expected, but we finally made it to W is for worm. Both my almost 5 year old daughter and almost 3 year old son enjoyed painting with Velcro for their V craft. So we did something similar for our W is for worm craft. This time we used wrapping paper to paint with our watercolors. Yes you read that right. It was silly, but they both loved it.

How to Make a W is for Worm Craft
Supplies:
- W is for worm printable (here is what I used)
- Wrapping paper
- Watercolors
- White cardstock
Prep:
First, tear up some wrapping paper. My daughter stashes anything she can glue together, so we used wrapping paper scraps she had saved from Christmas. Then, twist the wrapping paper into a cylinder shape. You want several pieces of wrapping paper per child since you can’t rinse them between colors.
Then, take out your watercolors and fill little cups with water. If you want to minimize mess, put it all on a plastic tablecloth.
Lastly, draw a W shaped worm or print out Simple Mom Project’s free printable (like I did). Since your paper will get wet, I recommend using cardstock so it holds up a bit better.
Making the W is for Worm Craft:
I know that prep is pretty complicated and the actual making is even worse. (Yes, that’s a joke.)
Show your child how to dip a piece of wrapping paper in their water, then into the watercolors, and then onto their worm picture. Next, watch them create and have fun. Yes, it’s that simple. But it will surprise you how just changing the brush up will make this super fun for your kiddos.

Conclusion of Our W is for Worm Craft
I don’t want to just keep repeating myself on how simple this was, but it really was so simple. And even though we only changed up the paintbrush, my kids acted like it was a whole new activity. It was a lot of fun for everyone. I will definitely look for other simple changes we can make to our normal crafts to make them into new activities too. Let me know in the comments what your kids thought of painting with wrapping paper.
