A Turkey Toddler Craft That is Quick and Cute

Thanksgiving is in one week! I don’t know about you, but it has really snuck up on me. What traditions does your family have? My family’s Thanksgiving traditions have always been far from traditional (more on that in a later post). This doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy traditional Thanksgiving things, and what is more traditional than a turkey? So, in preparation of Thanksgiving, I had to make a turkey toddler craft with my 2 1/2 year old daughter.

How to Make a Turkey Toddler Craft

Materials:

Prep:

Before letting my daughter help, I cut turkey face parts out of foam sheets. I cut a head out of brown, a beak out of orange, and a snood (the red thing hanging off a turkey beak) out of red. You can either use an online turkey template or just free hand it like I did.

Creating:

First, my toddler glued fake leaves to her paper plate. She squeezed glue onto the plate and then stuck a leaf on top. I pointed out places that needed more glue.

Then, I tried to show my daughter how to glue some leaves halfway off the plate to make it look more like a turkey. She didn’t want to do this part herself and asked me to so it. So, I did the gluing and my daughter picked out what leaves she wanted me to use. She called the ones she choose my “options”.

Lastly, my daughter glued all the turkey body parts and googly eyes on. I showed her where the head should go and told her the snood goes next to the beak. She then glued everything on where she wanted it. I was surprised that everything ended up pretty much where it belonged.

Conclusion of Turkey Toddler Craft:

My daughter was very proud of the turkey she made. She wanted to play with it on the ground, but instead I cleared her tissue ghost, toilet paper mummy, and nature monster crafts off our display shelf and put it there. This was such a simple craft, but it turned out really cute. And you really do need to do at least one turkey craft for Thanksgiving. Check out these other Thanksgiving crafts I have made with my daughter.
