Both of my older kids love pom poms. But my 2 year old son especially does. So, when I saw this cute pinecone turkey craft from Live Craft Eat, I immediately wanted to make something similar with pom poms. It took a couple tries to figure out how to do it, but once we figured it out, it was nice and simple. And the end product was three very cute turkeys (or at least piles of pom poms with turkey parts).

How to Make a Turkey Craft Out of Pom Poms
Materials:
Making the Turkey Bodies:
Note: We used double sided tape to stick our pom poms together. Then, I went back and hot glued everyones’ in place better. We tried school glue at first and it didn’t dry quick enough to make the craft any fun. You could also use hot glue to begin with, but I wanted my littles (an no burns) to be involved.
First, find a big orange pom pom to use as the body. I used orange, but brown would probably work even better. Then, if you are using double sided tape, wrap it around all but the base of it. Next, find another big orange pom pom and stick it on as the head.
Then, stick your other pom poms all over the body leaving the belly clear. We used orange, yellow, and red glitter pom poms in two different sizes.
Finally, if you used the tape, have an adult or older kid hot glue everything in place so that it stays better.
Adding the Turkey Legs:
Now that you have your turkey body and feathers, it is time to add some legs. Find two smaller pom poms in the same color as your head and body. Then, sit your turkey up so that the belly faces forward. While it is in this position, use hot glue or double sided tape to attach the two smaller pom poms to the base.
Finishing with a Face:
Lastly, add a face to your cute pom pom turkey craft. Cut out a beak from an orange foam sheet and a snood (red dangly part over the beak) from a red foam sheet. Use school glue to glue them to your head pom pom. Then, glue on two googly eyes. You can also take my two year old’s approach and just glue everything all over the place.
Conclusion of Making This Pom Pom Turkey Craft for Thanksgiving
I was really happy with how these turned out. The kids liked the idea enough to be patient through the glue not working and having to switch to the tape. Temporarily using the tape so I could hot glue them wasn’t preferred, but they still enjoyed the craft. And the little pom pom turkeys turned out really cute. Even my son’s silly all over one.
