This is going to be a short post since these tissue paper torches are so easy to make. I used them for my son’s medieval knight and dragon themed first birthday party. They would also make fun Olympic torches, Keepers of the Kingdom VBS dĆ©cor, or can add ambiance to other themed events. To place between each tissue paper torch, I also made cool cardboard stained glass windows.
How to Make a Tissue Paper Torch
Materials:
Creating:
To start, I cut out the bases to the torches. I used this torch base pattern to cut them out of black poster board. I could have made them full cones, but by cutting off the one side, I was able to make more out of one sheet of poster board. The cut out portion was not noticeable once they were rolled up.

Once I had all my bases cut out, I rolled them up and taped them into cones. As you can see the back has a gap from my pattern, but it doesn’t show at all from the front.

Then, I made the fire portion. I took a piece of red, orange, and yellow tissue paper and stacked them in a pile. Then, I folded them in half three times until they made a triangle. Next, I rounded the top of the triangle. This made all the pieces of tissue paper into a big circle. While they were still folded, I cut a bunch of wavy fire-like triangles out of the top.

Lastly, I unfolded the tissue paper and rotated the three circles slightly so they no longer lined up. Then I found the center and ran it through my hand. This made the tissue paper fire into a cone shape that I placed in the torch bases. I hung up each tissue paper torch using sticky tack.

Conclusion of Making a Tissue Paper Torch
Each tissue paper torch was so easy and quick to make. They made my son’s medieval theme more apparent in a cheap and simple way. I hope these help make your party even better too. Making these torches was so simple that I ended up using the same process to make jack in the box tissue paper fires for my kids to play firefighter with.

I like the different colors of tissue paper for the fire. And good luck on your challenge!
