I have always said that I have a lot more creativity than I do skill. So, when my daughter decided she wanted a Paw Patrol themed 4th birthday party, I knew I was going to need to be creative. Making things for a character themed birthday can be tricky. Since I don’t have the skill to freehand all the pups or anything like that, I relied heavily on the pup tag symbols. The pup badges still make the party feel Paw Patrol themed, but are way simpler. I found these cool designs by David James that I used throughout the party. One way I used them was to make Paw Patrol badge necklaces.
How to Make a Paw Patrol Badge Necklace
Supplies:
Making the Badges:
First, you need to make all the badges. I used these badge photos from David James. Once you have your pictures you need to print them (wallet size), cut them out, laminate them, and cut them out again. If you don’t have a laminator, you can cover them in packing tape instead.
Making the Necklaces:
Now that you have the badges, it’s time to make them into necklaces. First, cut your ribbon to the length of a kid necklace plus a little for tying around the badge. I experimented with a few lengths around my kids’ necks and used colors that matched the badge color.
Then, punch two holes at the top of each Paw Patrol badge with a hole punch. Next, thread the ribbon through both holes. Pull the two ends of the ribbon through the loop you just created.
Lastly, place a small piece of Velcro on the end of each ribbon. Since I was going to be giving them to young kids, I wanted to make sure that they came apart if they got stuck on anything.
Repeat until you have made all of your necklaces. I made them for just the 6 original pups, but you can make them for any pup you have a pup badge picture for.
Conclusion of Our DIY Paw Patrol Badge Necklaces
These were a huge hit with all the Paw Patrol fans that came. I used them as prizes at the end of my Paw Patrol themed games (coming soon). Both my 4 year old and 2 year old still have all 6 of theirs and play with them often. Another little girl spilled something on hers the next day and asked for another one. They have lasted well and are a fun way to fuel a kid’s imagination.
