DIY Paw Patrol Party: Food, Games, and Decorations

My daughter’s Paw Patrol obsession started with a Rubble toy. I don’t know who told her that Paw Patrol was also a show, but one day she woke up from her nap and asked to watch it. I didn’t realize what we were starting and now she loves Paw Patrol and has got other kids and family started on it too. So, I wasn’t surprised when she wanted a Paw Patrol party for her 4th birthday. Her favorite pup is Skye, but I themed her party around all 6 of the original pups.

We had a wide age range of kids show up and I wanted them all to have a good time. Instead of focusing on decorations that only the Paw Patrol lovers would enjoy, I spent more of my time coming up with fun activities. While the activities took the most prep, I also made several fun themed decorations and foods.

How to Throw a Paw Patrol Party

Invitations:

Before starting anything else, I made invitations to send out. Once again I used postermywall. My daughter picked a Skye themed invitation. The one she picked was actually a video invite, but it was easy to change to a still picture. After adding her details, I asked her friends to include their favorite pup or color with their RSVP. I printed her invitations out on cardstock, but if you want to remove the watermark you need to order through their site.

Paw Patrol Birthday Party Food:

After making most of the food for my son’s ball themed birthday party, I made things easy for this party and ordered pizza. To go with the pizza, I made themed snacks and a cake.

Pink Paw Patrol Cake

I always use this cool number and letter cake pan to make my kid’s cakes in the shape of the age they are turning. Check out my past year’s number cakes. I had a hard time deciding how to decorate my daughter’s 4 shaped cake. She wanted strawberry cake with all of the Paw Patrol pups. I wanted something simple that didn’t include me trying to hand ice or sculpt all of the pups. I finally decided on the simple pattern below the week of my daughter’s party. Learn how to make it yourself here.

Pup Tag Fruit and Veggies

Fruits and veggies are a side that goes with anything and are easy to theme. To start, I took a veggie tray and taped a laminated pup tag at the top of each of the bowls. Then, I placed color coordinating fruits and veggies in each one. I used blueberries for Chase, watermelon for Skye, pineapple for Rubble, carrots for Zuma, broccoli for Rocky, and tomatoes for Marshall. Lastly, I labeled the fruit side “Fruit Kibble” and the vegetable side “Farmer Yumi’s Crops” with bone shaped cardstock.

Pupperoni, Cheese and Crackers

Next, I placed out bone shaped cheese and pepperoni along with Club crackers. I had my husband 3d print me a dog bone shaped cookie cutter to cut the cheese and pepperoni. You can also buy a bone shaped cookie cutter to use. I put it all in dog bowls to add to the theme. Just like with the fruits and veggies, I used a dog bone shaped label on my “Pupperoni, Cheese, and Crackers.”

Pupcorn and Puppy Chow

The last foods I had out were some easy to make snacks. I labeled a bowl of popcorn “Pupcorn” and a mix “Puppy Chow.” To make the mix, I mixed Reese’s Puffs, Chex, and Scooby-Doo! Graham Cracker Sticks. It was the most commented on food item at the party.

Decorations for a Paw Patrol Birthday Party:

While decorations are fun, kids care more about games and food. So, I kept the decorations simple in order to focus on the rest of the party.

Pup Tag Wall Hangings

One simple decoration I made was pup tag wall hangings. I took these pup tag images and printed them as big as fit on a single sheet of paper. Then, I cut them out and laminated them. While they didn’t necessarily need laminated, it made them a little more durable. I moved them to my daughter’s room after the party.

Paw Patrol Felt Board

Before you think I am completely crazy, I didn’t make this Paw Patrol felt board just for my daughter’s party. I made it as a birthday gift and then placed it out to be played with during her party. It did take a long time to make, but it was fairly simple. Learn how I made it here.

Remaining Party Supplies

Instead of spending a bunch of money on themed Paw Patrol party supplies, I made most of them. I did buy fun Paw Patrol tablecloth, cake plates, and food plates. For the rest of everything, I bought Paw Patrol stickers and put them on pink (my daughter’s favorite color) cups, napkins, and forks. It was super quick to do and my daughter really liked them.

Paw Patrol Party Activities:

Puppy Adoption Decorating

I wanted something that the kids could do while we waited on everyone to show up. I saw the idea of a stuffed animal puppy adoption from Coffee and Confetti Mom and tweaked it. Instead, I placed out a puppy adoption area with white puppies the kids could color and make collars for. Here is how I made mine.

Pup Helmet Party Hats

On the invitations, I asked for each kid’s favorite Paw Patrol pup or color (if not fans). Then, I made each kid a hat matching that dog or color. I painted plastic kid construction hats and added ears and pup tags to them. When the kids showed up, I gave them their hat to wear for the party. I made hats for Marshall, Zuma, Rubble, Chase and Skye. None of the kids wanted Rocky. Here are instructions on how to make pup helmets.

Paw Patrol Mission

The main game I had for my daughter’s Paw Patrol party was a pup mission. Mayor Humdinger stole a map leading to a hidden treasure and it was their job to find it. I set up a game themed around each of the 6 main pups. Each kid got to play the game corresponding to the pup they RSVPed with to gain a piece of the map. Once they all finished, they worked as a group to put the map together and find the treasure. Here is how to set up your own mission.

Pinata

The map from the Paw Patrol mission (see above) led to a pinata for them to break open. I have DIYed pinatas for my kids’ last few parties, and made my daughter’s favorite pup Skye. It took several days, but I am really happy with how it turned out. If you can’t handle watching your hard work get broken, I wouldn’t recommend making your own pinata. The kids showed it no mercy and had a lot of fun smashing it to smithereens. Find simple instructions on how to make your own Skye pinata here.

Pup Tag Games With Badge Necklace Prizes

After the kids broke open the pinata, they placed their candy in a paper bag with their name and their pup tag glued on it. Then, I placed pup tag necklaces where the map pieces in the pup games were. Now the kids got to play whichever games they wanted to earn these necklaces. Some kids, like my daughter, wanted to play and collect them all. Other kids played the same game over and over again. Learn how to make your own pup badge necklaces here.

Conclusion of My Daughter’s 4th Birthday Paw Patrol Party

Overall, I was really happy with how my daughter’s Paw Patrol party went. All the kids had a lot of fun, even the little boy who told me a week beforehand he didn’t want to come because he was too old for Paw Patrol. There was enough variety that something kept everyone’s interest. I did put a lot of time and effort into prepping things, but it was very doable over a couple weeks beforehand. Which of these fun Paw Patrol party ideas do you think your child would like the best?
