My three year old daughter loves drawing, coloring, and creating with paper. My grandma gave her a huge stack of scrap paper to use and when she is in the mood, she uses so many sheets. I feel bad just throwing away all her creations, but they quickly pile up and she rarely goes back to look at them. This is where this simple trick to display your kid’s art comes in handy. Art is so important for a kid’s development and this DIY clothesline gets it off the floor and up where my daughter can see it.
How to Display Your Kid’s Art:
Materials:
Creating:
It doesn’t get easier than this craft. First, tie a push pin to the end of a skein of yarn. Then, push the pin into the wall where you want one end of your picture clothesline to be.
Next, unwind your yarn until it reaches where you want the other end of your clothesline to be with a bit of a swoop downwards. Now cut the yarn, tie the yarn to another push pin, and stick it into the wall. Finally, add some paper clips to hang artwork from.
What to Display:
For now, my daughter’s drawings are the only thing on our yarn picture clothesline. So far she has drawn pets, loveys (her lovey Lumpy is spoiled with lots of crafts), family members, show characters, animals and Bible figures.
Outcome of Clothesline to Display Your Kid’s Art
We put our art clothesline up in our dining room/kitchen. My daughter spends most meals naming all of the things she has drawn. She is very proud of her artwork and loves adding to it. I have really enjoyed seeing the progression of her drawing skills. I also like seeing her transfer what she has been learning into her art, like drawing David and Goliath who she learned about in her last Bible class. Overall, for such a simple idea, this yarn art clothesline has been a great addition to our house. What are your kid’s favorite things to draw?
